10oz and 8oz candle jars: how to choose
These two size classes sit very close together in volume — our 10oz moulds hold 295 ml and our 8oz moulds hold 300 ml. The practical difference is not the amount of wax, it is everything else:
- Choose 8oz when you want straight walls and the maximum printable label height per unit of freight cost.
- Choose 10oz when you want a rounded or tapered profile, a slightly shorter jar with a wider feel, or when you are matching a size convention your retail channel already lists as “10oz”.

DSC8090R is our standard rounded 10oz mould at Ø80 × H90 mm with 250 g of glass. DSC7898 is the taller option at 98 mm, which gives a slimmer look and better label proportions for tall artwork. Dimensions carry typical tolerances of ±1 mm on diameter and height and ±5% on glass weight; ask us for the drawing if you need exact values for packaging design.
Wax fill, wick and burn-time notes
- Wax fill: around 200–225 g for a 295 ml jar, which is approximately 8 oz of wax by weight. Our own product data for the 10oz frosted jar lists a recommended fill of about 8 oz.
- Headspace: leave 10–15 mm below the rim so the lid does not sit on the wick and the surface cures evenly.
- Wick: single wick for this diameter. Confirm the size on a filled sample — wax type, fragrance load and even room temperature all shift the correct wick.
- Burn time: typically 40–50 hours with a correctly matched single wick. Treat this as an estimate to verify on your own fill trial rather than a guaranteed figure.
