3oz Glass Candle Jars (95ml)

A 3oz glass candle jar is the 95ml small vessel used for travel candles, sample and discovery sizes, wedding favours and gift-with-purchase items. It holds roughly 60–75 g of wax, measures 56 mm across the top and 66 mm high, and takes a single small wick. This is the size brands use to let a customer try a scent before committing to a full candle — and the size event and hospitality buyers order by the thousand.

Why choose 3oz candle jars?

  • Low cost per unit, high perceived value. A small jar with a printed label and a lid reads as a complete product, which makes it effective as a sample, a gift or a low-price trial SKU.
  • The standard discovery size. Sample and travel candle programmes are built on this format because it burns long enough to judge a scent but ships cheaply enough to give away.
  • Ideal for events and favours. Weddings, corporate gifting and hotel turndown programmes all specify small jars, and the lighter unit weight keeps bulk freight economical.
  • Fast to decorate in volume. The 56 mm sidewall suits wrap labels, silk printing and hot stamping, and the small footprint allows dense carton packing with less breakage risk.

DSC104 (95 ml, Ø56 × H66 mm, 90 g of glass) is our standard 3oz mould and is available in clear, frosted and custom coloured glass. Because the jar is small, the glass weight is a significant share of the unit cost — if your budget is tight, a lighter 2oz profile is also available on request, while a heavier wall can be specified where the brief needs a more premium hand feel.

Tolerances run to ±1 mm on diameter and height and ±5% on glass weight. If you are matching a third-party lid, ask for the drawing of the opening before ordering.

Wax fill, wick and burn-time notes

  • Wax fill: approximately 60–75 g, leaving 8–10 mm of headspace. Headspace matters proportionally more in a small jar — too little and the lid contacts the wick, too much and the candle looks under-filled.
  • Wick: a single small wick. In a 56 mm opening, an oversized wick will tunnel or overheat the glass, so wick selection should be validated on a filled sample.
  • Burn time: roughly 12–18 hours with a correctly matched wick. Treat this as a planning estimate and confirm on your own fill trial, especially for sample programmes where the customer’s first impression is the whole point.

Available colours and surface finishes

3oz jars are supplied in clear glass, sprayed and internally coloured glass, frosted and matte finishes, and metallic or pearl effects. Decoration routes include silk screen printing, hot stamping, UV printing, full-wrap labels and small gift packaging.

On small jars, decoration cost is spread over a lower glass cost, so print and label work can dominate the unit price. Our glass decoration methods comparison shows how each technique scales, which is worth checking before specifying a premium finish on a give-away item.

Lids, caps and components for 3oz jars

  • Metal lids in matte, gloss and electroplated finishes, including lug and press-fit styles
  • Wooden and bamboo lids with sealing pads
  • Silicone and EVA sealing discs for transport
  • Small rigid boxes, sleeve cartons, jute or organza bags for favour presentation

If the jar is being given as a favour or a sample, the closure and the outer packaging often carry more brand weight than the jar itself — tell us the presentation format and we will quote the component set together.

MOQ, samples and lead time

  • MOQ: 3,000 pcs per design; 1,000 pcs on selected ready-stock models.
  • Samples: 3–7 days for existing moulds, including decorated samples on request.
  • Lead time: ready stock 7–10 days; existing mould with custom decoration 30–35 days; new custom mould 45–50 days at 10,000–50,000 pcs.
  • Shipping: ex-works Shenzhen. Small jars pack densely, which usually makes sea freight very economical per unit — we will quote both sea and air if your launch date is tight.

Frequently asked questions

What are 3oz candle jars typically used for?

They are most often used for sample and discovery candles, travel sizes, gift-with-purchase items, bridal and event favours, and hotel or spa amenity programmes. The format lets a customer experience a scent at low cost while still looking like a finished product.

Can 3oz jars be used as wedding or event favours?

Yes — this is one of the most common uses. We can supply small jars with decorated labels, coloured glass and matched lids, plus presentation packaging such as small rigid boxes or bags, and the light unit weight keeps bulk orders economical to ship.

Do 3oz candle jars come with lids?

Yes. We supply metal, wooden, bamboo and press-fit lids with sealing pads, quoted alongside the jar so you can compare closure options across your range. Lids can also be decorated to match your label or branding.

Is there a lower MOQ for small sample-size jars?

The standard minimum is 3,000 pcs per design, dropping to 1,000 pcs on selected ready-stock models. For a first test we recommend ordering a sample jar and running your own fill and burn trial before committing to the production quantity.
